In the 2005/2006 season we are planning to enter 2 Girls teams in the North Shore Girls Cricket Competition.
There have already been a number of girls who have shown interest in registering for next season and we already have 3 coaches
appointed being Rebecca Enright, Asha Smith and Michelle Hyde - all these ladies play Women's Cricket for NDCC and have level
1 (Asha & Michelle) and level 2 (Rebecca) coaching certification. Rebecca co-ordinated the highly successful Cric-Hit
program for HK&HDCA last season - Asha assisted with this programme.

Hornsby District Cricket Club PO Box 601, Hornsby 1630
HDCC has in previous seasons had a number of Girl's teams with many players
now playing in the Women's Grade teams for NDCC. Some of these players have gone onto representative level with Asha Smith
being the Captain of the NSW Under 17 team for the past two seasons.
Girl's Cricket starts
at the Kanga, Cric-Hit and Have-A-Go levels. These programs are designed for Girl's under 12 and are an ideal way for girl's
to be introduced to Cricket in non-competitive surroundings. All these programs combine developing skills and fitness and
fun. They are also a great way to meet other girls with a similar interest being Cricket.
From
these introductory programs girls can then move into competition cricket by joining a club (like Hornsby) with teams in the
North Shore Girls Cricket Competition. Matches are played on a Saturday afternoon. There are Under 12 and Under 16 age group
competitions. Most games are played locally. As well as playing matches there is training organised within the club to enable
players to develop their skills. In addition to weekly competition our local Association (HK&HDCA) selects representative
girl's teams for the Under 12, 14 and 16 age groups for those girl's who wish to play at this level.
After
the Girl's competition players can then move into Women's cricket with the NDCC which starts with an Under 17 (Brewer Shield)
competition and progresses through 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st grades. These teams comprise players from 14 years old through to
young women. Should anyone require more information on Women's Cricket you can contact Robert Smith who is the NDCC Women's
Cricket Co-Ordinator on 0413 986 129 or email him at smithro1@bigpond.net.au.
